apple and hike

Yesterday we headed to the apple orchard, then a hike at Niquette Bay. Today I am participating in the welcoming speech for our NEASC visit. This is our ten year evaluation/recertification process for the school. The visiting committe is made up of teachers/administrators from around New England. They will be here through Thursday. It has been a lot of work over the past year and It culminates with this visit. I will be speaking on a welcoming panel today, then I will have multiple visits to my classes over the next few days.

Quechee

So on our Day off, Beth and I decided to head south to Quechee Vt. When we got there we started at the Antique Warehouse and found a beautiful set of 6 hand blown crystal wine glasses. After lunch we visited the Gorge, headed to Simon Pierce Glass Blowing and then visited some of the small gift shops in town. We then decided to come home a different way than the highway. We travelled west through Killington to Route 7. Along the way we had fun stopping at the many Hay figures that were placed along the road to celebrate the Fall Hay Festival that was held last week. We stopped off for Ben and Jerry's then home. It was a great day and beautiful sights. Technically the leaves are all past peak, but there were still a lot of colors... including the white flakes that were coming down all day.

Proud

After years of struggling with the red tape of certification and a successful completion of requirements, Beth was finally approved as a certified pre-school teacher this past year. Now in only half a year since her certification, she has been chosen by the State of Vermont as a teacher for a Demonstration Site for the Foundations for Early Learning program. This means that Beth and her classroom were chosen as one of the best in Vermont and now she will have other early educators come in to observe her classroom to see a model of quality instruction. It is nice for the state to recognize what I have always known. That Beth is a wonderful teacher and among the very best in the State of Vermont. Congratulations Honey !!!!

Cell pics from Sat

Here are some cell phone pictures from last Sat. (don't get close up, the pixels ruin the shot) We took a drive up through Smuggler's Notch into Stowe. Beautiful drive. Leaves were at peak. They are just getting to peak at our house, although a wind/rain storm took down a bunch.

On another note, Beth took Denali out last night , came back in and informed me that either the werewolves are early for halloween or the coyotes are back. Maybe we'll get some night pics with the camera the schlax's got us this year.

Fall

You've got to love Fall in the Northeast. After a deluge the past 24 hours Beth and I headed over to New York today. We drove in to Floodwood pond, by the St. Regis Canoe area, and hiked a couple of miles along the old Adirondack Rail line. It was a nice day with a mix of sun and clouds and a noticeable chill to the air. The reports were that the Adirondacks were at peak, and while some areas were it looked to us like they weren't quite there yet. Mostly green and yellow, yet some of the red leaves could have come down in the storms.

After the hike we headed into Lake placid for a meal and some Oct. shopping. We found some very cool Halloween decorations. Finally headed home to a very hungry puppy.

more pics to follow as I can only put 5 up at a time.
